Retrain Your Brain: The Science Behind Becoming a "Lucky Woman"

Donna·June 20, 2026

The Lucky Woman philosophy teaches you how to do something truly life-changing: retrain the Reticular Activating System (RAS) in your subconscious mind.

Think of your subconscious mind as a massive, infinite library. It stores memory files of absolutely everything you have ever seen, heard, smelled, touched, felt, and been taught throughout your life. Meanwhile, your conscious mind is being bombarded with thousands of bits of data every single hour of the day. You couldn't possibly process that much information without your brain completely shutting down.

Enter the Reticular Activating System. Nestled in your brain stem, this bundle of nerves acts as the ultimate gatekeeper—or the stern librarian guarding the entrance to your subconscious.

How Your Gatekeeper Works (Against You or For You)

The RAS intervenes to collect those thousands of daily data bits, filing them away to keep your conscious mind from becoming overwhelmed. She filters through the noise and determines what information is actually useful to you.

For example, she will effortlessly filter out background noises like birds chirping, traffic, or a neighbor's faint radio, but she will instantly let through the sound of a crying baby so you can check on your family.

How does she decide what's important? She observes what you focus on most, and what keeps you safe from harm.

The Problem: She doesn't try to solve your problems—she just gives you more data to match your current focus. If your daily focus is constantly on struggling to pay bills, your RAS will relentlessly feed you data on scarcity. When you focus on your financial struggles, she hand-delivers evidence that you are indeed poor to match your mindset.

The Loop of Despair: Your conscious mind can't reason its way out of debt with the limited, negative data your RAS is feeding it. Part of your conscious mind then becomes cynical, doubting whether any new idea will ever work. Your RAS notices this cynicism and—you guessed it—fetches more cynical data to support that focus. Suddenly, you're stuck in a loop.

Breaking the Loop: It's Not Magic, It's Neuroplasticity

The amazing news is that the RAS can be retrained. The Lucky Woman philosophy offers the insights, tools, and exercises to retrain your RAS one step at a time. She will learn to stop filtering out opportunities as "irrelevant" and start delivering solutions.

A Quick Reality Check: The RAS is not a genie granting wishes. You still need to act upon the opportunities and solutions she highlights.

You also need to get past that cynical voice in your conscious mind that blocks access to the RAS. The Lucky Woman includes a specialized solution for sneaking around that inner critic until it, too, is retrained. You will learn the exact language your RAS speaks, and with practice, you will become incredibly accurate at requesting and receiving what you desire.

We don't tell you what kind of lifestyle to create—that is entirely up to you. We simply give you the tools to manifest it. It's not magic; it's neuroplasticity.

The Mystery of the Missing Cap: A Real-Life RAS Story

To prove how this works, let me tell you a true story from my own life as the founder of the Lucky Woman philosophy. This is a small "hit," but it proves the system works so you can apply it to the big things later.

I recently bought a facial contouring device that massages and delivers red light therapy. It came with a boomerang-angled, milky-white plastic protective cap. While the cover is on, the device won't function.

I developed a strict 5-minute morning routine: I'd massage my face in the restroom mirror while waiting for my coffee to brew, wash the device, replace the plastic cover, and put it away on top of my bedroom chest of drawers. After about three weeks, this routine became entirely automatic (incidentally, it takes about 21 days to form a habit).

One morning, I did my stretches, made the bed, started the coffee, and went to grab my device. The protective cap was gone.

I looked all over the chest of drawers. Nothing. I checked the restroom counter, thinking I left it there. Not there. I used the device anyway, washed it, and put it back. Then I searched the floor and under the bed. No luck.

Throughout the day, my mind kept wandering back to it. It was a tiny piece of plastic, but it bugged me! It was brand new and I'd already lost a piece. I wondered if my husband had mistaken it for trash, so I went rummaging through the garbage can. Nothing. Frustrated, I even checked our dog's bed. Still, nothing. It was a complete mystery.

How I Put My RAS to Work

That evening, while visiting my brother and sister-in-law, we were talking about The Lucky Woman book I wrote, and it suddenly dawned on me: Why haven't I asked my RAS?

I waited until right before falling asleep that night. This is when our brainwaves slip into the theta phase—the perfect window to bypass the cynical conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious.

I gave my RAS a clear command: "While I sleep, I want you to search the memory banks, find where that cover went, and let me know where to look in the morning."

I visualized the missing piece, recalled my actions from earlier, and anchored the visualization with the emotion of frustration I had felt. Then, I drifted off to sleep.

LUCKY WOMAN TIP: These are the exact steps required to manifest anything you desire: Clear request + Visualization + Emotional Anchor during the Theta state.

The Result

The next morning, I woke up, stretched, and practiced my gratitude affirmations. While making my bed, a sudden thought popped into my mind: Go look in your makeup bag.

I knew this was my RAS delivering the answer! But immediately, the cynical corner of my mind started chipping in: "That's dumb. You wouldn't put it in there. You have no memory of doing that. It won't be there!"

However, the intuitive urge was too strong to ignore. I opened the makeup bag and looked inside. At first glance, I didn't see it. The inner cynic celebrated: "See? Knew it wouldn't be there!"

But a second thought insisted: Dump the bag out.

I emptied the contents onto the bed and—lo and behold—there was the milky-white cap!

Why It Worked

I had absolutely no conscious memory of putting it in that bag because I hadn't done it deliberately. I must have left the cap on the counter, and later, while hurriedly packing up my scattered makeup, I scooped it up and dumped it all in the bag together.

My conscious mind didn't register it, but my subconscious mind saw it happen. My RAS had filed that memory away as "irrelevant data." It happily let me search all day without saying a word, until I specifically asked it to show me the solution.

Unlock Your Potential

This is exactly how you retrain your RAS to seek out the grand opportunities you want to manifest. Your RAS will not volunteer information it deems unimportant. You must convince her it matters by speaking her language.

In life, it is rarely a case of being "unlucky" or opportunities passing you by. They are always there. But you must audit what you focus on, because your RAS will always match the data she feeds you to your mindset.

Your RAS is the key to unlocking the lifestyle you desire. Change your mindset, change your lifestyle.

The Lucky Woman Philosophy Handbook offers step-by-step exercises, insights, and lessons to retrain your RAS, develop dynamic magnetism, and build a positive mindset.

The Lucky Woman Guided Journal/Workbook is the perfect companion to record your daily exercises and monitor your amazing results.

It doesn't matter your age or your current circumstances; you can do this.

Remember our motto: Change your mindset, change your lifestyle—because luck is a practice, not a random lightning strike!
